I know this sounds noobish (as I am) but, I was curious as to weather or not editing avchd files in premier would go smoother if I picked up a quad core. I currently have a 3.0 ghz dual core 4 Gigs of ram and a quadro fx 570 video card. The video plays back in real time which is nice but there’s ALOT of mosaic tiling going on. Due to financial restraints I would only be able to buy a 2.5 ghz quad core. Would this increase the overall performance for this issue?
    Thanks guys

The rest of your specs like the harddrive space, etc, would help, something like Cineform’s NeoScene intermediate code may help more than just a quad core update, you could download a trial and see if it helps.

Yea I’ve certainly looked into it but trying to avoid increased file sizes and the extra step. I guess that’s just what’s to be done with avchd at this point in time. I have a 1 tb drive in my comp as well. Windows xp 64 bit (don’t know if I mentioned that) I may just save up a bit more and go for the 3 ghz quad core. I figure if 2 can pretty much handle it then hopefully with 4 it’ll be good to go. How easily does this stuff edit in After effects? I suppose I’ll pop over to that forum and snoop around
    Thanks again.
