Slow Shutter Effect
Posted by Jonny Flint on March 29, 2008 at 12:37 pmI have some DVCPro HD 1080i footage and want to create a slow shutter effect.
Are there any filters or plugins in Final Cut that will do this?Illia Torralba replied 14 years, 4 months ago 6 Members · 5 Replies -

If you want something better, Re-Vision have a very good “ReelSmart Motion Blur”.Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1
G5 2x2Gh 4GbRAM-BlackMagic Extreme
PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
JVC DTV-17″
SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table. -

Find a 10 second clip that has some good movement in it.
Change the speed using Smooth Cam to something extraordinary like 100 seconds.
Export.
Import the retimed clip.
Apply motion blur to the new clip.Motion blur setting in FCP are meaningless. It’s all about tedious experimentation. Take notes or you will never be able to recreate a good effect, too many mindless variables.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

January 12, 2012 at 8:18 pmHad the same problem and solve it the easiest way… try that: duplicate your footage and put a layer one on top of the other but slightly off time for a couple of frames (make the upper start begin 2 frames later than it’s duplicated).
Lower the upper clip oppacity to 50% and add some motion blur effect at you personal taste. There’s a motion blur option you can use aswell.
You can repite this operation as many times as you want to achieve the effect you desire…
