Slow running and choppy playback on CS4 XP
Hi,
I upgraded to Premier Pro CS4 early last month. Since upgrading I have edited numerous projects, with source footage @ 1280×720, and editing in PAL DV 720×576.
Yet, in our current project, which for the purposes of context is coverage of ATP Finals, at the O2. We have been editing the video since the start with no problems, but since starting to edit the final press conference on the last tape, the computer seems unable to cope with the playback, and there is a about 5 sec delay when I even click on ‘FILE’, select a clip or try and playback footage on the timeline. needless to the footage is playing back choppy.
As this has only started occurring since editing the last clip of the last tape, I have deleted, and tried to playback our previous sequence from earlier in the championship. But with no improvement.
I would have said that it could well be the PC performance, but it has been fine with editing the last 6 projects.
At the moment, Windows Task Manger details that
Premier Pro is running: 124, 840K
Importprocessserver.exe: 511, 240K
Computer: Intel QUAD Core @ 3.30ghz with 3gb RAM Gforce 512mb Graphics.I’m not sure if this is normal or abnormal, but I would assume that 511, 240 K is what is slowing down the computer.
And with that I put it you? Any Ideas or suggestions?

The system is stressing more if u cut in a timeline that is not native to the media.
Having vista 64 or win7 64 might help with memory management and see more ram than XP limit of 2.5 gig.Jon Barrie
