  • slow renders…bad NVIDIA settings/driver?

hi all. i’m working on a Meridien Symphony, v5.5.7 running on a xw8000. i’ve recently noticed glacially slow rendering times when they used to be decent, especially when there’s a 3D warp running on a filler layer….AND we had a full system rebuild recently so i’m not sure what was fiddled with…. can someone please answer me these questions three:

    1. where can i go on my system to find the driver for the NVIDIA card?

    2. for Symphony Meridien version 5.5.7, what is the Avid supported driver version for the NVIDIA Quadro4 980 XGL card?

    3. what are the correct settings for the card in the display panel?

whenever i go to the Avid knowledge troubleshooting page and punch in “slow render”, it suggests various settings for the NVIDIA card for NITRIS Symphony systems, but not for MERIDIEN Symphony systems. any help is appreciated.

    thanks!

We are running Symphony 5.1.1 Meridien on a Compaq W8000. We recently rebuilt our machines due to a virus we could not cure.

We are also using the Nvidia Quadro4 980XGL Video card. The driver should be in:

    C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\Nvidia

or you can download the latest drivers from:

    https://www.nvidia.com/object/avid_cert_drivers.html

We are currently using the 77.18 driver which seems to work OK for us and are using the default display settings.

    Hope this helps,

    Ken

It’s not much help, but here’s a Media Composer product matrix that shows what drivers work with each version of software. I haven’t been able to find a matrix for Symphony, but maybe it’s in there someplace.
