    Hi everyone,

I can’t find anyone with the same problem anywhere on the web or even in here, so…

Problem: Creating a solid then throwing Radio Waves on it, 1.46 seconds render time per frame at half resolution. I’ve updated Ae, rebooted, I didn’t do anything at all with the RF effects settings, I’m on a 2020 27″ iMac with 128GB of ram, 16GB on the AMD video card alone, I’ve got my footage on an SSD porting though a hub that’s connected to one of my TB3 ports, and a cache drive with 500GB SSD dedicated to Ae and that drive is porting into another hub that’s ported into my other TB3 port. I have TONS of room on my internal 2TB SSD…I just can’t figure it out. The comp is standard default 1080, so is the solid (same size as the comp), it’s crazy! Any ideas?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

    Hi Tim,

    can’t replicate the problem.

The start plays back in nearly realtime 9~15 ms per frame at full res on my Macbook.

But the longer the comp is, the slower it gets. For example after 2 minutes, about 130ms per frame

I had no idea. The comp is 15 minutes long by default for whatever reason. I’ll cut that down and let you know. Thanks!

I did a little playing, cranked up the lifespan and my thought is that even after the waves have left the screen(IE don’t need to be rendered anymore), AE is still calculating their positions. If you have accumulated a lot of waves that would slow things down drastically.

Filip Vandueren, you nailed it on the head! The comp was 15 min long. LOL. I shortened it to 40 sec and it’s rendering ahead of real time in full res. Oh, man. So simple. THANK YOU!
