O.K I’m new here. My experience with Vegas mostly dates back a few years ago, using DV, on Vegas studio. Recently I decided to venture back in. I decided to do it right and buy a new fast computer and upgrade to Vegas Pro 10. System worked great, but when rendering i rarely got above 20%.
Lots of posts back and fourth. Experimented with many dofferent settings.
Now I have a lot to learn about codecs in the HD world. But after a couple weeks of this I tried the Mainconcept 1080i with 2 pass VBR and my processor slammed to 96% and my render times dropped by a huge margin. I had been using the Sony AVC, and a couple of others. I still need to figure out which codec I want and proper settings but it was nice to see my machine work for a change.
Though this might help someone else, I saw a few posts about this issue.
    Thanks
    Brad

    Hi Brad,

Don’t know if you have found this thread yet but I stumbled upon it the other day and it had a wealth of info on how to check for bottlenecks in your setup to get your CPU to max out at 100% or close to that to speed up your render times.

This seems to be a common issue and more of an art than a science so it’s worth the read.

    Good luck,

    Rob S.

Thanks for the heads up. I had read this thread originally a few weeks ago, I re read it yesterday. With all the tweeks I was never able to get my cpu anywhere near 100%. I didn’t realized from reading these threads that using different codecs within Vegas all to HD could have such a dramatic result. When my project is done I will need to use the correct codec for delivery, but while I’m editing if I want to transport a file using in mainconcept in Vegas seems to work very well.
    Thanks
    Brad
