Slow PSD files: Curious why my solution worked
I have PSD files (about 20-30 mbs) with lots of layer-sets, inside more layer-sets (turns into pre-comps in AE) and lots of layer effects on mostly vector stuff.
When I bring them into AE they take forever to import (maybe 15min!!) then, they are unbearably slow to work with.
SOLUTION: I saved each layer set out to a different file and imported them separately….still takes a bit to load, (much faster though) but now I can animate at regular speeds.
JUST CURIOUS: I have no idea why the files didn’t just work in the first place.
ANY IDEAS?(I thought possible it had to do with disk speed and accessing just one file for everything…..but, the file is only 22mbs….so I don’t know.

Thanks Dave,
Yeah, I took out hidden sets and some jpg layers. Didn’t know if they were the culprit because they were mostly hidden.
