    Hi everyone,
This is my first post here. Hope someone can help me out.

Problem: I’m trying to edit some video in Premiere Pro CS3 on a Leopard iMac but the program is functioning extremely slow. When scrubbing through some captured footage, it takes some 4 seconds before the video actually ‘hooks’ (reacts) on to my scrubber cursor. Also, then I simply click on the play button, it takes the same amount of time before the footage stats playing.
Also, when capturing video from my DV camcorder via fire wire, the sound is not in sync with the video in real time. When I view the captured file, still, the video and audio are not synced-up. I have to manually split the video and audio and shift the audio to match the video.

In a simple app like iMovie, I can scrub and capture in real time without a problem.

What could be wrong? I have no trouble exporting the video and it works in iMovie so I presume it’s not a hardware specifications issue. Might it be a codec thing?

Hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

    Hi Louis,

I’d been having this exact problem over the last week, using Pro CS3 on a Leopard Mac pro; the response time was getting slower and slower, yesterday I counted 5 seconds from pressing the spacebar to the timeline starting playing. I tried all sorts of (optimization) work arounds, and googling turned up the same problem on other forums which is when I caught your query. Well I might have found something that may help, because it certainly worked for me, it was mentioned on the adobe forums page: https://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.3c05ae80 (scroll to the last 2 comments about Audio preferences).

Check your audio hardware in Premier Preferences and under Default Device make sure that System Device Input/Output is not selected, I have it as Built in Line Output
and premier is back to normal. I hope this helps.
