I tried a search but couldn’t find my answer. I am trying to do an effect where the clip runs at full speed and suddenly drops to, say, 50% slow motion and then back up to full speed. I can get the first part by splitting the clip and applying the Velocity envelope to 50%, but I am having trouble bringing the end of the clip back, smoothly, to full speed. Any suggestions?

No splitting is necessary – the sudden drop to 50% is done by putting a vertical step down from 100% to 50% – double click to insert pivot points which can then be dragged. To slowly return to full speed, add a pivot at 50% then further along another pivot which should be dragged up to 100%. The time between points, in other words the gradient of the slope, will determine how quickly the rate changes.

You know, sometimes things are SO simple. Thanks for the solution. It all makes perfect sense now. I think my problem was, I was trying to handle the situation like I had done for years using Pinnacle Studio. I keep forgetting that Vegas is so much better. Thanks again for the help!
