Slow Motion and Fast Motion?
Posted by Ken Bennett on August 10, 2010 at 1:32 amIt looks like I can change the playback speed for slow motion in Vegas down to about 25%. That’s fine. But I also do “hi-speed” motion clips up to around 1000%. But it appears Vegas can only do about 400%. Is there a way Vegas can do hi-speed clips? (without actually shooting them in hi-speed)
Thanks

I like using the script RenderImageSequence and then import the pictures as motion footage. 1 frame per second = 30 times faster ( if original is 30 fps) Try it with a motion blur on the video bus, you can get some cool effects. There are scripts available with more flexibility than the built in render template.
I think you will find this on Ed Troxel’s site. Anyone else know the download location of this?

August 10, 2010 at 3:48 amIn addition to the playback rate you can add velocity envelope to your clips, so the speed can be increased up to 12X

…and if that’s not enough, speed the clip up 12x in a separate project (veg file) and then drop that veg file into your main project and speed it up another 12x (which is 12 times 12 or 144x!)

You drop a .veg file onto the timeline just like any other piece of media. No rendering! It’s called a nested project and is the equivalent to comps in After Effects. It’s an extremely powerful concept when entire projects can be treated like any piece of media and trimmed and cropped and stretched, etc.
