Slow Motion
Thank you for taking time to read my post:
I have 24p footage shot at 24fps and 48fps. we are trying to make the 24fps video match the 48fps video but to little avail, have not been able to achieve a good look. Has anyone successfully slowed down 24p footage without making it look jittery? If so, what plugins (or recipe) would you recommend. I am editing in FCP 5.1.4 and the footage was shot on an HVX.

Whatever you do in FC it will look more or less jittery. I always use Shake to slow down footage and it looks a lot better.

FCP 6 has the Smoothcam engine. Very nice. But you will never get smooth slow motion from half the discrete frames. You can use other tools like ReVision but, by the time you buy that and play with it, you could probably reshoot properly for less money and time.

Bring the clip into Motion and use the Optical Flow option in the Timing parameter. Adjust the speed of the clip to taste. You can also employ variable time remapping there as well.
