Is it possible to encode an SD commercial that will be compliant with DG Fastchannel’s specs using FCS3? Other posts lead me to believe that it requires other software like Episode. Is this the case

    Thanks,
    Craig

It’s really up to your customer service rep.

I am dropbox certified so whatever I send usually gets pushed right through as I have been through the process. You can upload other types of files, but it won’t be through the dropbox. Also, other markets are different. You should call them up and set up an account and they will guide you as to what the best/most efficient way to make the files.

I use Episode for SD, and Compressor for HD.

Don’t know about SD out of FCP, I’m Episode and Dropbox also, sorry.

I am curious why you use Compressor for HD though? I render H264 straight out of FCP and it works fine

I’m sure it might. Compressor is just faster and in most cases a cleaner encode in my experience anyway.
