Slow exports in Premiere Pro, looking for best practices
Hello! I am trying to move to PP from FCP7. Right now, I’m using CS6 but will move to the cloud version at some point.
I’ve read about how exporting is different (i.e., no by reference movies). I am trying to figure out the best practice to reduce export time. I do a lot of green screen work, so here is the test:
I have a 2 minute clip recorded in Pro Res LT (Atomos ninja). I chose “New Sequence from Clip.” to match the origination codec and frame size.
I applied a green screen filter to it (Primatte Keyer Pro). I go ahead and pre-render the footage, even though it plays back in realtime.
This takes 5 minutes.
Then I go to export. I check “match sequence settings” and “use previews.”
The export takes 5 minutes.
Wuh? I thought using the previews would bypass re-rendering.
What am I not understanding?
Thanks!
