Slow-down-to-stop audio effect?
Hi, everyone – is there a way within Premiere (I don’t have Audition) to make an audio clip quickly slow down and stop, as if an old tape recorder or movie projector has been turned off? I don’t see any options for speed-ramping or time remapping of audio, using keyframes, rubberbanding, etc. Thanks!

The closest I could get in Premiere was to cut the section of the clip to slow down in to many slices, then incrementally adjust the Speed/Duration lower for each clip in succession. Note: the audio clip must be linked with a video clip, otherwise you do not have the option for Speed/Duration. Also, remember to leave room between clips for them to expand as you slow them down then close the gap between them. (Right-click on the gap then Ripple/Delete)

Thanks, Joe – such a convoluted process for what would seem to be a simple effect! And it’s music, so there is no video to have it linked to. As it happens, I was able to go onto someone else’s computer who had Audition, imported the twelve frames of music I wanted to effect, and then found a “turntable slow down” preset. Once that had been exported as a 12-frame aiff, I just attached it to the full-speed music clip. Just what I wanted!
