We have a 30 sec spot where an animated drawing appears, fades out while an image fades in aligned where the drawing was then, the full image drives off to a side to reveal a word.

At present there are 5 items, which means, saving 5 seconds for a sing-out jingle, things have to happen fast.

However, what I would like to do is tell After Effects:
“All this happens in 5 seconds…take each layer and adjust the time so that all animation is appearing at the same speed.”

Does this make sense? In other words, I’ve animated the drawing using the Write On effect, basic Mask Expansion keyframes (with a feather applied) to reveal the image, then keyframed position property of the image to move out.

The animated drawing was pre-rendered so that’s in this comp as a movie clip.

I just want to ‘even out’ all the actual movement so that one item doesn’t seem to happen faster than another.

    Thanks

Hmmm. I’m not sure I get all of this but you might try applying TimeRemapping to your prerendered footage.

You’ll end up with some keyframes that you can compress or move around. For instance, if your animations (including the video) need to happen more quickly, you can grab all of the last keyframes and move them all toward the start of the timeline.

Also, if you select a range of keyframes and (holding the opt or alt key)grab the last keyframe of that range, you can scale the distance from the last keyframe to the first. This works with multiple layers too!

If I missed what you are looking to do, please let me know.

Also, if you time-stretch or compress the layers, the keyframes’ timing will scale too.
