Hi, putting in some major hours on this, coming along FINE, really making progress except ONE SINGLE critical basic question about manipulating clips. I understand slip and slip trim, works fine EXCEPT I want to do these on video and audio SIMULTANEOUSLY! And in fact, this problem seems to pop up all the time. I am attempting to slip/ slip trim cross dissolves (or even a clip with NO transition) and it does ONLY the video not the audio (Even when I have selected both); I have attempted everyway possible to select both video and audio, (Ctrl & Shift) it DOES NOT WORK, resulting in irritating sync errors that constantly have to be corrected. WHAT is the secret here that allows me to slip video and its audio track simultaneously?

ALSO, I am attempting to slip cross dissolves i.e. to the right and it does something weird. The clip to the left is LENGTHENED past its end, resulting in a loop situation which I DEFINITELY do not want.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE…WHAT IS THE FIX.
This is really the only problem I am having so far! Thanks.

Why are you having to slip edit so much? I get my segments right before creating the various dissolves. Yes, it is handy when it is needed but I just don’t need to do it hardly ever.

Anyway, when it gets out of sync, it’s simply to get it back in sync. As for extending a clip, if you extend (i.e. SLIP) past the end of the clip, it has to do something. The two options are: loop and hold the last frame. Personally, I try to make sure neither happens.

Hmmmmm. Thank you….what I am doing is experimenting with everything that Vegas gives you, check out all functionality. If something doesn’t work, the assumption is I am doing something wrong. It would just be good to know if I am using this tool incorrectly. Could you attempt to slip or slip trim a video and audio segment without losing sync? Can you confirm how to do this…or maybe it’s not doable. Because if it can’t be done, it means this tool is useless….

I tested on a couple different versions and mine did NOT lose sync UNLESS I turned on “Ignore Event Grouping”.
