January 4, 2007 at 12:11 pmThat’s hilarious. First Avid, now Premeire. I guess those new Mac Pro’s are just too pretty from across the hall.

ps I think Apple are at the back of the hall this year, so maybe it might be a bit quieter without the ‘war’ going on

Yes I heard that too. They left Avid at the front of the hall and Apple to the back. One of the reasons I heard that Apple was moved to the back and not Avid was because Apple draws one of the largest crowds in the entire show. This forces people to walk through the entire show floor and see the other booths rather than just jamming up the entrance to the show. Should be fun to see the flocks go screaming past Avid to find Apple.

yeah, that’s the same press release as the original post by Peter in this thread. It’s a little longer, but the same one.

January 4, 2007 at 4:02 pmPremiere is coming back to the Mac… what it really has that FCP doesn’t is mixing formats in the same sequence… let’s hope FCP 6 will address this. Think OCTO Macs and hopefully mixed formats… yo… dunno though. New CC tools maybe? After all, Apple bought a nice bunch of tech from Siicon Color.
I’m going to be in the AJA booth again this year, so PETER try to come to Vegas; I’d love to shake your hand.
Wally… I’ll be seeing you in April I’m sure. Becca is coming too, right? I want hugs.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be in the AJA booth for a few days as well and I’ll be doing some stuff with some other folks to be named shortly.
Yes, let’s hope Premiere can push Apple to give us what we had three years ago with CineWave, mixed codecs and boy real-time green screen would be nice again.
Oh and a working copy of Final Touch would be nice. The Silicon Color forum is not a happy place these days.

January 4, 2007 at 5:49 pmGreat news about PPro, this means Apple will once again have some competition (apart from Avid of course).
Nothing drives change and innovation like competition.

That’s the truth and to fuel it, I’ll take a serious look at PPro since I use After Effects so much. Let’s just hope AJA will support Premier with the Kona cards.

January 4, 2007 at 10:06 pmI’m hoping that Premiere will support avi export beyond 1 gig on the mac. It’s a problem I came up against two days ago and just figured out yesterday. Quick time only supports up to one gig export to avi. It means the production cycle I was hoping to ease the mac into is seriously flawed. Premiere might be able to fix that.
I’m just getting my teeth into FCP, having used Premiere since version three or earlier (I don’t remember exactly). I like PPro2, even though I had an error Adobe wasn’t able to resolve.
I’m sure a whole lot faster on Premiere than FCP. But LiveType and Motion are very nice. The integration between Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and Encore are unparalleled though.
