Sliding grid effect plug-in?
Posted by Alex Townley on April 17, 2014 at 1:16 pmHi there I was wondering if anyone knows of a plug-in for either FCP or After Effects which can help me pull off the effect used at 00:12 in this video –
https://vimeo.com/90210049Know how to create it manually but hoping to use the effect throughout a minute long video and can be a bit fiddly and time consuming.Cheers,
Alex

April 17, 2014 at 1:24 pmNo plugin does that, it sure would be nice though. I’ve done that look quite a bit, and it’s just a matter of picking my shots, creating a rough story board and effective use of mattes and parenting.

The animation part of it you will have to do yourself. I would just create a duplicate layer or layers, then mask out the layers I want to animate, then animate them.

April 17, 2014 at 7:52 pmGlad to be of help, John – that script is a killer, and it’s also great as an idea generator – you can just keep punching the button until you get something you like. I’ve created a few templates by using just colored boxes, and saved them as separate comps – then I just replace them with video when I need them.
