slideshow editing
I’m new in video editing world, started with Win Movie Maker ver6 in Vista and now using trial tools to understand which one best fit my purposes. I mainly create slideshows starting from digital 8 megapixel jpeg pictures. I found Vegas Sw very powerful but I have some questions and I have not found answer in manual.
the selection of pan&crop effect is possible ONLY by clicking in the square icon inside the pict? is there the possibility to customize some ‘favorites’ pan&crop effects (e.g. bottom/left zooming to top/right)and have they available in just a click? if not, this is for me a strong limitation in the high power of Vegas. other less powerful tools have an editing section dedicated to predefined (maybe limited) pan&crop effects.
as possible alternative: is it possible to add the same pan&crop to multiple pict? or, after having added, to change pan&crop parameters on multiple pict?

No, you can also right-click the image and choose Pan/Crop from the menu that pops up.

Certainly. Just get it the way you want it, type in a name for this setting (where it says “untitled”) and then click on the floppy disc icon to the right of that box. That setting will now be available in that drop-down box.

Of course. Just apply it to one effect, COPY that effect, select the other events, and then right-click one of them and choose “Paste Event Attributes”.
BTW, if you’re creating PIPs (i.e. not zooming IN), you might wish to explore Track Motion instead which will apply to everything on a TRACK.

That setting will now be available in that drop-down box.I believe (I am not with my Vegas now) that your answer is related to save a ‘point’ (e.g. the starting point in terms of size, position & zoom) as part of a pan/crop/zoom effect, composed by 2 (or more) of these points or keyframes.. what I was trying to understand is if there is the possibility to save the entire effect, I mean to save for example a complete panning effect from bottom/left (1st point) to top/right (2nd point) naming it as ‘diag_pan’ then being able later to select a pict and to apply the custom ‘diag_pan’ effect I mean without entering the pan/crop window to apply the 2 saved ‘points’ to 1st and 2nd keyframe…

You could use a script to apply multiple saved presets. Or you could just use a script to dynamically apply those changes without needing presets. Take a look at the various photo montage tools found in UltimateS at Vasst and in Excalibur at jetdv.com for examples of that.
