I have to make this one a little long… here we go !

Every time one of these presenter single cam and slides project comes up I struggle with this same issue.

The slides I am given are of course not formated for overscan, so I have to reduce their scale, and I have to add a colored matte on the track below to compensate for the transparency created around the slides. I thought there would be a way to fill that transparent space but I have yet to find one (And the budget given doesn’t really allow me to put every slide through AE.)

When I apply a dissolve to both the slide and the matte I get that ugly transparency overlapping, and so I have to nest these two tracks separately and then apply the dissolves.

When I do that, I, of course, get a single sequence for the length of the timeline. I then have redo all the cuts matching my original slide tracks and then apply the transitions. Sorry, I’m out of breath…

Can anybody shorten this workflow before my two last hairs take the final dive ?

Why mess with a colored matte? I just rescale the slides to about %88, some folks see a thin black outline, others see no black.

Well the slides and over the video track, since they are being dissolved with it, the video appears on the edges.

I don’t mind the black, what I am masking is the video.
