Hi, I’m exporting my seq to QT and back again, before sending to Color (it’s not so long and makes sense to avoid any gremlins). Is there a quick way to chop it up into its shots again, or do i have to go through with the razor-blade?

    Cheers,

    Bernard

So why to waist a generation?

    Agreed. Why do this?

If you insist, no, there’s no quick way to chop it back up, you must do it by hand.

The why is because i just wanted to be sure there wasn’t anything left in the timeline – filters, motion effects or whatever – that might mess up the process. I’ve fallen foul of this before and ended up with Color trying to render entire tape-length sources. It didn’t take long to export. Or to chop up, now I’ve done it by hand.

[Bernard Lyall] ” filters, motion effects or whateve”

Fliter get ignored in Color and replaced after you grade. Motion effects (speed changes) need to be baked in, which will probably be a lot faster than exporting and chopping back up.

Baking in speed changes will fix that.

Also you will not have any shot handles after the grade plus you may have fun grading across any dissolve transitions or fades to black (if you have any).

Just bake in the odd shot that has a speed change. I presume you are on an earlier version of Color than 1.5.1 if you are being so cautious although it pays to simplify and flatten the timeline anyway.
