Recently I was asked by some guys shooting on D5, D7 cameras for a clapper / sync system…(yes they could have used a clapper board)

Spent some time in the workshop and came up with this “Slate Light” using 2 LEDs(Green + Red for START & STOP), buzzer, 9v Battery all in a small box.
They have used it on a days shoot with positive feedback….

    Nice.

If you’d maybe add a second button that would activate a “one shot” circuit with an “on-time” of a fraction of a second (maybe a quarter second, or shorter) that would give a very tight pulse of the LED’s and the tone, which would be similar the sharp clack of a clap-board.

(The short audio “pop” that would result would be easy to cue-up, as well.)

I initially thought the same (a short pulse) but trying to find a 2 frame light flash when spooling or cueing the video was near impossible to find. With a long pulse there are 2 cue points (start and end of pulse), the audio on a wave display is a VERY distinct block and looks so much different than the program sound.
