I hope this has not been asked before, I have done searches however I keep getting a page that says it is under construction.I would like to create a pencil sketch of a persons head with no color with a ribbon that flows across the screen and spirals around the persons head upward, and as it does have color fill in the sketch. I am familiar with how to create a sketch in Photoshop and have color in it however I do not know how to do the color transformation in AE. Also to complicate matters I would like to have the image change expressions,If I have to create still images for each frame for 10 seconds at 30 frames per second, that is a lot of work, I know there has to be an easier way.I have AE and trapecode for the creation of the ribbon, can anyone point me to a tutorial on the image part.
    Thanks

I wouldn’t have a different image for each of the 30 frames per second. I would suggest you have about 2-5 frames per second. This makes it more believable as a drawing. I would do each frame in colour in photoshop (make an “action” in photoshop so you only have to push a button to get it to do what you want).

Then import your image sequence into AE put an adjustment layer over your image sequence and use channel mixer or hue/saturation to take out the colour.

Then animate a mask on that layer to remove it.

Sorry if that doesn’t make much sense I’ve had a weirdly stressful day and my brains not entirely working.

So make my composition in AE at 5 frames per second,1 image per frame? The only problem that I see is the trapecode stroke running at 5 fps. Is action in PS the same as a macro?

I would put your stroke in a different composition over your picture composition. But your frame rate could still be 25 or 29.97, you just only make a few pictures and time stretch it over your timeline.
