  • Sizable render time increase after Vegas reinstall

    Greetings, all.

I had a specific project I did that took about 20ish minutes to render. I had to do a fresh install of Sony Vegas 12 and now, after that, the render time is in the hours. It really is confounding. In addition, I have gone to other projects and tested their render times and those are all fine! It’s just this particular project. And so, I began to try and deduce what could possibly have changed about this particular project from before the reinstall and after.

The only thing I can notice is I started getting this error message upon opening the project: “Warning: an error occurred during the current operation. Some streams in the media file could not be opened.” And then it goes on to say, “A nested project source media file was not found” and then it lists a single PNG file. I already removed all unused media, so I’m not sure why that’s still popping up. Could that be some sort of corruption that is somehow affecting the render time of this particular project? It has to be some sort of corrupt path or file, right? This is a new one in my history of Vegas Pro usage, that’s for sure. God bless, everyone!

Yup, you’ve just joined a very special, honoured club. It’s called the “Pull Yer Hair Out Club”.

    Moving on……

Yes, haha, it’s an esteemed club, indeed – and I joined it today spending five hours trying to figure this out. No track was inadvertently changed from Source Alpha, no event’s opacity was accidentally adjusted, and no render or projects settings are kooky. I’m stumped on this one.
