  • Single AMA clip offline, the rest are fine

    Hi,

I’ve been ingesting a bunch of Sony FS7 media with the usual AMA link-then-transcode method.

Everything has been going fine, but I just got to a card where just one clip from the card shows as offline after AMA linking to the whole card. All the other clips from that card are fine, and I can even reveal the offline file in Finder and it points to it just fine. It simply won’t allow me to view or transcode the file.

I’ve inspected the clip in VLC and Sony Catalyst, and those programs can read it. I’ve deleted the AMA files and re-mounted them, and the same problem occurs.

Any ideas what could be happening here?

    Thanks.

Try to use Davici Resolve to ingest it. (its free)
I had a similar problem in the past and that was the only work around that solved it.
    Cheers

It’s not a spanned clip is it?
The rest of the clip maybe on a different card?

Yes, it looks like it is actually a spanned clip. However I AMA’d both cards in together and it still didn’t seem to recognize them as being associated? Is there a way to have AVID join them?

Make sure you are using the correct AMA plugin rather than let Avid auto select it. Manually select the correct AMA plugin in the drop-down menu.

Had an instance recently where Avid selected the wrong one (the generic MXF instead of the P2 plugin). This caused only one section of every spanned clip to be linked and all clips (spanned or single) had incorrect time code.
