If I go to the Apple Qmaster setup box in the Apple system prefs, most of the boxes are not available (light grey) and if I hit “start sharing”, a dialog box comes up saying
“qmaster not running. Unable to start services because qmasterd is not running.
Please consult your user’s manual for more information”.

I did that and no where is there anything to tell me what this means.
Also, what does it mean Qmaster is not running? There is no way to
start up Qmaster that I can see. The app is only for setting up the process.

Anyone know what I could do to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Dan

I trashed the compressor prefs .plist file from /home/library/preferences. Then ran Compressor and it worked.
