    Hi,

I’m considering getting a multibridge pro for a new FCP system (the big HD move!) and want to know whether you can get both SD + HD out of the SDI outputs at the same time – also does the HDMI always output the sequence resolution and framerate?

Am I right in thinking that you can digitize from an SD (digibeta) source and upconvert as it captures (albeit a software conversion) and if so how does the quality compare to hardware conversion?

    Cheers
    Rob

I have a multibridge extreme (now called the pro) and it does indeed simultaneously output SD and HD, but it only works in hardware for 1080i.

I can’t get an answer from black magic why it can’t simply
do the same for 720P. Makes no sense to me.

The software downconversion is completely useless.

Its horribly aliased and jagged and I don’t know why anyone
    would use it for anything.

the 720 to 1080 cross upconversion I’m not sure about because it only works on intel macs and I have the G5 quad.

I will say that the HD to SD hardware downconversion while capturing is excellent and comes in handy often.
