    Hello,

    I was wondering how to achieve a similar effects to this one (at 4.51):

    I have a frying pan that has an elevated and punctured middle, and i need to create an animation to show how the hot air from the stove enters the pan through the middle and hits the closed top of the pan and circulates through it.

    I have modeled the pan in 3d, i have cut it in half, and created an effect with 2 trapcode forms layers, one that moves up, from the stove, and one from the top towards the bottom , a different color, starting after the first one hits the top. BUT its to airy, i mean i have small bubbles (spheres) at a distance apart.

    How can i make a smooth stream of hot air that eventually splits into half to cover both half of the pan? Tried it with fractal noise and a mask revealing the content both left and right, but it look VERY cheap.

    If you make the pattern in black and white, then you can use a displacement map. That will give you control, and also give you what you want.

    Displacement Mapping if Form doesn’t already provide the required displacement for you. THEN, the magical Puppet Tool should do the trick.

    Roland pointed you out to a great Tutorial using Puppet Tool.
    I also thought about this one when I read your post.
    Another way to achieve what you are after is to have multiple Lights set as Emitters and following paths, using Particular.
    But, if you want real life physics then Newton is what you are after.

    Thank you for your answers! I first tried the puppet tool and particular even before posting, and played around, but the problem was creating the organic/steam look of the system/flow, but now that i really think about it it would be from the “Trails” the emitter leaves when moving along the path.
