May 26, 2011 at 6:45 am[Susanto Widjaja] “would you recommend proresLT?”
LT would only be my choice if I had storage problems or the end result was a small web video. I use ProRes422 always but my end result is broadcast in HD & SD. ProRes HQ and 4444 are not needed for most 1920 x 1080 work unless 4444 is required for an alpha channel.
I am surprised it took longer to convert from H264 to proRes422 than AIC. However, in the end the better RT and the faster renders when required should out way the capture time.
If you can’t see the quality difference, then I suspect you don’t have an external monitor or you haven’t applied color grades or FX processing. This is when ProRes should show its lossless nature. LT however is lossy but very easy on drive speed, space and RT performance.

May 27, 2011 at 12:01 amthe problem is still there.. although its a little bit better now.
the mini-sas can now play through text layer but its very inconsistent. It will slow down every now and then to the point that it is not workable..
I’m pulling my hair out and thinking of returning this item for istorage pro now….

A suggestion before you throw in the towel is to contact Areca again to see if they have a solve for you. I’ve not heard of the issue you’re experiencing with the ATTO R680 card which what we’ve validated for use with our ST8-U5 product. That being said, we don’t believe the problem is with our enclosure but with your card.

Have you tried taking the same footage back to your FireWire storage & playing it back?
Can you send us a project file?
email sales@raidon-usa.com & we’ll see what that can tell us.In addition, take a look at the following information and video, both which address your issue.

May 30, 2011 at 3:35 amHi Jon,
I’m so sorry for the delay in replying. I’ve been so busy editing and shooting last week.
I’m still editing with the stardom with constantly have to restart FCP because it will lag once it hits a clip that needs to be rendered. The seller asked me to try another areca card to see if the problem was with a faulty card so I will try that and see.
