    Hello. Beginer’s question:
I am following the Quickstart tutorial of C4D 11, and at the point where I am modeling a simple figure, it mentions I can deform/scale multiple items at once. So I can select sevaral at once and perform this scale, but only if I scale all dimensions equaly (X,Y,Z). I want to scale just the Y axis, say, of three objects together. The directions mention to use the “C” key to convert them and then I should be able to do what I want, but I still can only scale all XYZ together, no matter where I “handle” the group. I don’t even see why convert using the C key, since I can scale all XYZ equally without converting the items.

I know this is really a beginer’s question, but I sincerely cannot understand how to do this. The text in the Quickstart says as follows:

If you want to scale all cubes of the arms at once you can do this as follows: with the shift button pressed, select
the objects “Lowerarm_L“, Upperarm_R“, Lowerarm_R“ and “Upperarm_R“ and press “C“ on your keyboard to
convert the objects and scale them with the “Scale“ function along the Y and X axis. As you can see, the orange
    handles are not visible.

    Any help much appreciated!

Those cubes are created as “primitive” objects…
Make them “editable” (shortcut “C” key) converts them to polygonal objects…

Select the Scale Tool (T) and the Model Tool / Either click and drag at one of the handles,
or disable one or two of the axes “X, Y, Z” (top toolbar) and drag in the viewport anywhere…

There are two fairly similar tools available that can be used for move, scale and rotate…
(The Model Tool and the Object Tool)…
In Short: The Model Tool is for modeling / The Object Tool is for Animating…

Check out the Help files: Type in “Model Tool”… It’s all very well explained there…

    Regards
    Nolan

Thanks… I hadn’t gotten the Model Tool and Object Tool, the Quickstart seems to speed by them. Thank you for the help.
