    Hello everyone

Recently started working on Media Composer 3 and what I’m actually trying to do is make a simple volume adjustment. I added two continuous keyframes to the 2 audio tracks on the timeline (A1 and A2), dragged the first two keyframes all the way down and let the other ones as are, in order to succeed a plain fade in. Although both channels are adjusted what I get from the speakers is a fade in from only ONE of the stereo channels, while the other one plays at standard volume (this also shows at the level meters). Am I missing something here? Please help asap

    Thanks in advance

Lemme guess… it fades left to right? Render the effect and it will be fine. It’s probably easier to use the ramp tool for simple fade-in/fade-out.

Something like that, but also there is no effect to render or so the software says… A fade in may turn out to be simple, but if the problem persists how will it be possible to adjust audio if, say, I want to add narration and simply want to add keyframes in order to alter the volume up and down? I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong… Could it be that in the fast menu I set it to Auto Pan?

Yap..! It was as simple as that. Stupid me! Ok. Here’s my other question: Assuming I have added a music track on channels A1 and A2 and several parts of a narration track on A3 an A4. If I add keyframes to my music tracks accordingly, in order for the music to rise and drop in between narration in and out points, is there a way to adjust music volume for all of these spaces in between (i.e. only for the parts that the music level would drop)? I’m guessing it has to do with in and out points, but I believe this would also affect the parts that I don’t want to adjust. Right? Any suggestions?

Many Avid editors (me included) don’t bother with keyframing (rubberbanding) audio changes. If your audio is one solid piece, you can’t tell assign a different volume to certain sections automatically.

Instead, make edits (slice) at the points you need to ramp. Change the volume, and use a dissolve between the clips for your transition. Then if you want, you can save the audio settings from either the high or low volume clips. Select just those clips and apply the settings to them. Read manual or research how to save effects settings to do this.

There are timesaving measures in Avid. Most just require a bit of creative thinking and knowing the app.
