Simple question about editing in ProRes 422 (Proxy)
Hi,
This is a bit of a noob question, but I was reading on Apple site about the editing process on “Eat, Pray, Love.” It contained the following portion:“The editors found an efficient solution in ProRes 422 (Proxy), a new version of the Apple ProRes codec introduced with Final Cut Pro 7. As soon as dailies arrived from EFILM, Assistant Editor Doc Crotzer would transcode the files from ProRes 422 (HQ) to ProRes 422 (Proxy), organize the footage into bins, and prepare the material for editing….
We were able to cut in Proxy and in a few simple keystrokes be reconnected in ProRes 422 (HQ) to output for a screening.”
Could anybody give me a simple explanation of how to edit with the lower quality (proxy) codec if I have imported my files using log and transfer into ProRes 422 (HQ) and then what would be the ” few simple keystrokes be reconnected in ProRes 422 (HQ) to output for a screening.” I guess I asking how you reconnect to the original res files when it is time to send the timeline to Compressor.
Thank you!
