Simple HDV Question

You can monitor the audio coming from the Deck or Camcorder’s audio jacks.

Yeah, I can…. I should have added, that’s what we are doing. The only problem seems to b a two second delay between the deck and FCP. Makes it difficult to get critical timing.

OK. This might do the trick-

The audio is, by default, intentionally MUTED to the Mac’s speaker output during Log and Capture.
However, there is a way you can turn ON the Mac’s speaker if you really WANT to.

In FCP5x and later:

In the Record Tool:
Clip Settings, near audio buttons, choose: Preview: “ON”

I would like to do this, but HDV Log & Capture box doesn’t have this feature.

So far, the only option that I have is to install an AJA IO LA, downconvert, and monitor thru it.

You cannot monitor audio on your mac when logging HDV the way you can when capturing DV. There’s not even a check mark for it.

I’ve come to that conclusion…

The answer is to downconvert to DV and log the footage that way. Then I can select Preview Audio to hear the audio.

I guess I overcomplicated things with this….
