I currently have a Western Digital 2TB RAID 1 drive MyBook Edition that I keep all my master card files on and I consider this my archived/protected drive. I use a WD 1TB My Book Studio for my scratch drive (I’m using an iMac so a FW800 is my fastest connection for this machine).

I want to create a backup of my RAID 1 drive and store it on the shelf away from the computer. I recently had a scare with Carbon Copy Cloner with their recent update. It seem to have used my RAID 1 drive as the destination to back up my OS when it was never scheduled to backup there. CCC issued an update to this problem and I have done the steps there, but my concern is I have no back up to my RAID 1 drive. I was thinking of a simple solution of purchasing WD Caviar Blue or Black 1 TB bare drives, hooking them up via usb and creating a copy manually every time I have a new card to offload. I wanted to hear any input or advice from you all and see if I am going about this the right way.

    Thanks,
