    Hi
I am an AE novice and am trying to create the effect of a simple doodle of a city landscape to draw itself. I have tried using vector paint but the fact is drawing strokes by hand have just given me an inconsistent look and unsmooth strokes. So how can I create this effect but with smooth consistant strokes?

Use the pen tool to draw the doodle on a new solid. Add the doodle points in the order in which you would like them to draw onscreen.
Next apply effect>render>stroke, set to “all masks”.
Use keyframes to animate the end point of the stroke from 0 to 100. This will make the stroke appear to draw itself on.

For other methods, search the COW using the search term “signature”. Search the archives as well.

    Dude-
use the pen tool to draw the lines exactly where you want tthe reveal to happen, and then apply effect/render/stroke. In the effects panel change paint style to “reveal original image” and then keyframe the start poition.

you might need to adjust the stroke width, and you can try it with stoke sequentially turned on and off to see the difference.

    good luck.
