  • Simple box canvas wrapping with or without UVW

Hello there! I’m trying to come up with a simple repeatable workflow for wrapping a texture with very specific dimensions around a model of a box canvas, where the edges wrap. And, preferably, without having to unwrap the texture into five faces.

So, if you can imagine a simple 8×8 inch box canvas that is 0.75 inches thick – typical for art projects. And there’s a 9.5 x 9.5 inch image/texture – what would be a good way to precisely drape/wrap the extra 0.75 inch edge around the model of the box canvas?

I’m embarrassed because I know this is going to be easy, but it’s hooking me up somehow. I’ve messed around with all options before digging into UVW – and even with UVW I couldn’t get it to look good. So I’m worried the only option is to hit up the source texture and ‘unwrap’ it into 5 faces. Which is going to suck because there are dozens of these.

Never found a quicker way. So just buckled down with UVW unwrap. Meant the objects needed to be Editable, then UV box projection. Deleted the back face. Fit the UV map to the square image.

Ended up copying the UV coordinates via the texture tag 30 times. I guess that was the workflow solution I was looking for all along.
