OK, lets say I have one or more compliant mpg files, these are video files only with no audio, now I want to add a music track that is a single file that is the same duration as the one or more mpg’s. It seems every app that I have will always re-encode the video files when I add the soundtrack. Is there a way to add a single music track to cover one or more compliant mpg video files without a re-encode of the video?
    I hope I’ve made this clear enough . . .

    Thanx

    Hi Larry,

There are several tools that will multiplex mpeg2 and audio files. You might find a freebie on the doom9.org site. I’ve had good results with retail version of TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress. It’s an pretty good encoder but also includes several utilities for multiplexing and demultiplexing. If you pop for this software consider getting the optional AC3 sound plug-in. Turns wav files into ac3 quick like a bunny.

What tools are you using that insist on re-encoding?
