Silent Movie Captions
Hey
I recently used a brand new (chinese) camcorder and neglected to switch on the attached external mic so tragically I have no sound in my video.
My solution is to convert the footage to a SILENT MOVIE complete with old fashioned captions and music. Is there some kind of template I can use for the captions? can’t be the only one that wants to do this. If not, is there a way to mimic the grainy effect on the captions and black background with some stylized lines?
Also, there is a time stamp at the top left corner of the video, anyway to remove it effectively?

Hello Eric, sorry to hear the sound did not registered on your silent video.
If there is a way you can screenshot the timestamp showing up in the top left corner of the video so I can visually see it, it can help me figure out how to get rid of it. Is it part of a video clip in the timeline above the main video?
For the captions, you can play around in the VEGAS Titles & Text section by selecting Insert > Text… and you can add background colors, shadows and other cool effects you can use on the text, I imagine you can grain your subtitled text as well. Found a good tutorial that can probably help you further with this any answer some of your other questions you may have with it.

You could record your commentary on the timeline and this program will change it to subtitles.
