Signal Not Reaching External Monitor Through Kona 3
I am investigating potential use of Premiere Pro with as much of my Final Cut Pro infrastructure as possible. This requires getting my Kona 3 to play nicely with CS 5.5. AJA did release an updated sequence “plug in” package enabling proper capture sequence preset and potentially output to tape through the Kona; however, Im not having any luck getting the signal out via sdi to the external monitor, except oddly enough when I’m inside the titler tool. Am I missing a setting somewhere either in the Kona config or Premiere Pro? Is it possible the issue is my non mercury engine optimized video card? I do know the signal is processed correctly to the monitor from AE in CS 5.5 which tells me this might be more Premiere related, but thanks in advance for any and all help.

Walter has a good tutorial on how to get Premiere talking to your Kona. It does require the 9.0 Kona release software …but BEWARE!
You could get into the ugly mess of OSX 6.8 causing kernel panics when booting! The problem is a Kona kext file gets broken. The key issue is to set your startup to always default to 64-bit. There is an Apple entry on that very topic.
The line is sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture X86_64
I lost a bit of hair this afternoon figuring that one out… but thanks Walter for the nudge in the right direction…and I also think its cool to be able to scrub a preview clip right out of the browser.
