Shuffling text
Hello
I want to create this ‘shuffling text’ effect. I made this example by assigning a separate layer for each letter, with a track matte. Ok for short words, but labour intensive. I feel like there should be a way to do it with an animator, but I can’t figure it out. It’s similar to the Character Shuffle In preset except that each letter is hidden behind the character in front of it until it emerges. Any help gratefully received

Off the top of my head, no, but seeing as you’ve already done it before, could you convert one of the longer words into a precomp and turn it into an Essential Graphic? (Or start with a fresh one)
You could have one text entry, but the EG would do all the work for you and you’d be able to reuse it multiple times in the same comp if needed.

Thanks Graham – that’s an interesting idea. I haven’t really used Essential Graphics: maybe now is a good time to start!
