I have a problem where I take a slideshow that is in AVI format and use it in APP2.0. As long as I don’t stretch or shrink the AVI (slow it down/speed it up) it works flawlessly the horizontal lines in the frames that surround each picture are crystal clear. I like to match the rate at which images are displayed with the tempo of the music.. and doing that by manipulating the play back speed is easier than trying to specify that each picture should be shown for 2,4,6 seconds.. which still may not match the tempo of the music.

HOWEVER, if I manipulate the slideshow to match different music.. then the ending result is a slideshow that has vibration in it lines that used to be motionless now jump around….. images that go from clear to blurry to clear etc… and it looks like the video wasn’t written in one place because it jumps around.

I was wondering how can I stabilize the horizontal lines of the frames in video that as been stretched or shrunk. As soon as I render the slideshow AVI at its 100% (default) speed it works without a charm but then that prevents me from matching the tempo of various pieces of music.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

PP2 was never very good a slow motion or re-scaling, CS3 is much better, so is After effects.

The resulting quality will also depend on the AVI format. DV, for example, will not yield to very good results, since it will need to be recompressed after any adjustment in size or speed is applied. Working with an original uncompressed file would be the best way to go here.
