  • Show length of a clip in trimmer

I would like to easily see the length of a clip… especially in the trimmer window. I see in the bottom right three windows where data like this should appear. The first one shows the current location of the cursor… but I can’t get the others to show anything. Is there a setting I am missing?

[Mark Krueger] “The first one shows the current location of the cursor… but I can’t get the others to show anything. Is there a setting I am missing?”

The first window is the in-point. The second window is the out-point. The third window is the length between in and out. You obviously have not set the in and out points or made a trimmer timeline selection which is why these other two windows are empty.

BTW, double-clicking the trimmer timeline will select the entire clip and thus the third window will give you the length of the clip (which was your original question). 😉

There’s also a free script called “Show Event Length” courtesy of Gilles Pillat (aka Rosebud) at https://sony.vegas.1.free.fr/.
Unzip it and follow the instructions in the text file.
He has several other useful scripts in there too.
My personal favourite is “Open in Graphic Editor”.
I use this with Photoshop all the time and it’s a lifesaver.

Mike, Show event length is not going to give you the length of the media from the clip. It’s just going to show you the length of the event which can be a subset of the clip. I just don’t want to confuse Mark into thinking that it might do what he wants.

    Thanks for the correction John.
I misunderstood the question and do not wish to mislead anyone.
