  • Show / hide Windows title bar

This is pretty lame, but I’ve somehow – unintentionally – toggled off the Windows title bar in AE. You know, the blue bar at the top of the window that has the Mimimize, Restore and Close buttons in the right hand corner?

I’ve done this before, but only got the bar back by fluke. Now it’s gone again and I don’t want to wait until I luck out and hit the right key combination to get it back. Anyone know what I should be doing?

Look under Window command for Reset Workspace

Thanks for the suggestion, Richard. Unfortunately, resetting the workspace simply resets the position of the panels etc, and doesn’t affect the presence / absence of the Windows title bar.

I couldn’t find anything for ya on the web or on Adobe’s site… it’s quite possible that the window went to “restore” mode and got moved up, if this is the case, simply press “ALT+spacebar” then presss the ‘X’ key… that should take it back to “Fullscreen mode”.

If you have it in window for a reason, it can be moved by pressint “Alt+space” then ‘m’ then simply use the arrow keys to move it about and press enter when its where you want it.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, however it doesn’t toggle back and forth between the two modes (title bar / no title bar).

Since I started this thread my title bar has miraculously reappeared. Once again I have no idea how this happened, so I’d still like to know how to toggle between the two states in case I accidentally remove the title bar again!

Hey Simon – if you ever figure out what happened make sure you post it in case it happens to any of us and we’re left in the dark poking at it hehehe

Hey guys. Just saw this post. Sorry I am pretty late. I had the same problem.

    Try hitting “Ctrl + ”

It should toggle back and forth. Hope this helps!

I’ve found a few similar posts, all unresolved!

I’m used to working without the title bar since it vanished a while back. After having to reset my workspaces today, the bar is now back again. There doesn’t seem to be a solution in the workspace options, nor does the `¬¦ or ~ keys work as most would suggest.

Not a major problem, but we all love our workspaces!

You can toggle it on and off by pressing “ctrl + \”.

Yep, Ctrl+ is magic button. Thanks Keith.
