Show date and time from a recorded tape
Hello everyone,
My Canon manual is packed away somewhere so I hope that you don’t mind me asking this question.
Is it possible to see what date and time was recorded on a MiniDV tape? I know the camera had the time and date set correctly. I have some old tapes that I didn’t label well and now I am trying to find out what the dates of recording were.

If you go to the Canon web site and do a search for your particular camera model you’ll probably be able to pull up the manual for it. Since you didn’t state which model you have I can only say that virtually all the newer MiniDV cameras will allow you to display the date/time of your tape in the viewfinder as the tape is playing. Just poke around in your menu settings and you’ll find it.
