Shoulder Brace and Support for Sony PMW EX3
Hi Guys,
I’m manufacturing a shoulder brace specially designed for the EX3, while making a claim that it’s the first genuine design for the EX3 (and should work for all the Canon XL cameras too). Could you guide me if that’s a fair call? Please let me know if there are other designs on the market?
The brace is at https://www.embracevideo.com/embrace5/embrace5.html
I’m a professional videographer, I started making stuff about 2 years back and its kind of snowballed since then. I’m making a bunch of stuff, (5 braces, steadicam, field microphones, dolly) and trying to price it so that it’s affoardable. The Embrace5 is for $250. I’ve not compromised on quality one bit. I’ve just launched my enterprise on Jan 14,2010, so please be gentle. I’m pretty excited about this stuff, am I on the right track? We’ve done some exciting stuff with audio too, that’s on our sister site.
I’ve listed the braces I could find below. All the other braces that I’ve seen are essentially a bent piece of aluminium that rests on the shoulder. In my design the entire weight is supported at the waist, and the hand is just used to point the camera. It’s mounted on a locking rotating head, distance and height completely variable. I’ve used an articulated arm with a spring(though it’s not essential) to dampen effects of walking, and by pressing down on the spring you can lower the height of the camera. The body vest is really comfortable, and a combination of clasps and velcro secures you in.
