  • Should I use a symbol or blending method for this project?

    Hello,

I am creating an infographic based on the “coastline paradox” with some map images similar to the one below. To create the ruler effect that outlines the image, and to make it proportionate (as in ruler 1 equals x number of miles, and ruler 2 equals y number of miles, etc.)

Which method I should use to achieve this? I have tried with pattern brushes, but the brush images don’t butt up to each other if that makes sense. It looks like this photo, but I would rather it be more seamless and accurate when I switch brush sizes and refine the shape of the coastline (there will be the 3 images similar to the 1st image above):

So I am wondering if I should be using a blending method. Please advise, thank you in advance!

You can use either, depending what exactly you want it to look like. If you use pattern brushes, make sure you create the corners as well (the help file has step by step instruction how to create pattern brushes – even seamless ones, too).
