I’ve not been a big user of AE over the years but since I’ve started editing with Edius I find myself using it again more and more.

I’ve currently got AE5.5BP and it’s working a treat on the Vista64 Edius box.

The question is whether it’s worth an upgrade to CS4?? Adobe provide no upgrade path from 5.5 so it would mean a re-purchase which I suppose I’m prepared to do if it’s justified!

What do you serious users think about the relative advantages of CS4 over 5.5? Does CS4 use any of the capabilities of the graphics card for instance? Would I see a quantum leap in speed?

I’m working HD on a machine that has the nVidia QM3700 video card.

    Any opinions please

    With thanks

If your edit machine has multiple cores and lots of RAM, you’d see a big rendering benefit from the Multiprocessing option, which I believe was added in CS3.

Adobe offers a 30-day downloadable trial, so you could try it out and see if you think it’s worthwhile.
