Should I just burn it down and buy a new one?
Extreme perhaps, but I’m having another problem with my old FCP system. FCP 3 wasn’t recognizing my camera as an external FW source, so I downgraded OSX from 10.3.9 to 10.3.3 (because that was the change that seemed to cause the problem). It will now recognize my camera but FCP won’t give me the option of mpeg-2 export anymore. I tried changing versions of QT, but still no luck. Anybody got any ideas???

You may very well NOT have a working QT-Pro number, as this is automatically inserted/generated when you register FCP (during install).
It should be somewhere on the regnumber sheet that came with FCP.
I never made that number work though, but I had bought a QTP license prior to buing FCP, sp I used that.To make 4.5 wotk with QT 7, you need to buy a new QTP license…

This is true with FCP5 and quicktime 7, but with FCP3 and QT6 you have to manually enter the number. Open quicktime and then open the preferences. I think it’s under the registration button.

Ok… I trashed the FCP Preferences and tried registering the QT. FCP still isn’t giving me the option to export mpeg2?!?!?!
HELP!!! Any other ideas?

You can get this download from the Apple site WITH a valid FCP key.
It should also install with DVDSP if you have that.
QT Pro does not have it.

THANKS everyone for the help!
I updated the QT and also downloaded FCP 3.0.4 from Apple and now I can export mpeg-2’s again!!!
