  • Should be simple? Texture issue

i have what seems should be an extremely easy fix but for some reason i cant accomplish what im going for for anything…i seem to always struggle with texture mapping in C4D. But heres my issue now…just need a logo that is on one side of this ribbon…to be on the otherside. I can only accomplish it with “flat” or those type of projection mapping but then the letters dont really fit the contour of the ribbon properly, i need UVW mapping, you can see the lower logos are fine, but i can only get ANY textures to show up on that side of the ribbon, why cant i get it on the other side? (i do have “both” selected in the tag.

Does your ribbon have any thickness?

Yes, with clothBurb, and i figured that is affecting it, im sure its projecting on the “inside” of the geometry .

I don’t understand it. I get the texture on both sides with or without cloth nurbs. Can you post your scene?

I just noticed youll have to go to the offset Y in the texture tag and set it to about 50% to get it where it was in the reference pic i posted

Okay, now I see the problem. You’re sweeping a rectangle instead of a straight spline segment. Because of that the backside texture is showing up inside the ribon. Then you’re using a cloth nurbs on top of that to add thickness instead of just increasing the width of the rectangle profile.

If you make the rectangle spline editable, delete two points, and uncheck “closed spline”, it will work correctly.

But the writing will be mirrored on the reverse side because it’s just projecting through. If you want it not to be mirrored you’ll have to use two materials: one for the front side and a mirrored version for the back side.
