  • Shots darker on export – Quicktime issue?

I’ve read the threads about quicktime gamma shifts and shots being washed out but this is the opposite problem and I’m looking for a workaround. I cut up a prores shot in Davinci did my color work then imported into premiere pro. Looks good in the timeline but when I export the blacks get crushed. It actually looks like the contrast is getting bumped up a bit. Where there was detail in the darkest shadows it’s completely black now. But if I import back into PP or Davinci the shot looks fine again but only in those programs not via quicktime. I tried doing a gamma correction via a adjustment layer before export. It helps a little but I still get the same effect in the shadows. My main output is to youtube, same problem, and the client has already noticed how dark some of the shots look. Any ideas as to what’s going on?
